500 Teddy Bears and $15,000 Raised, The Teddy Bear Party Supports Three Organizations During the Holidays

A vacant retail space.... transformed into an event
venue with a holiday themed DJ booth from
Dallas Light and Sound.
With more than 450 attendees, a terrific Host Committee under the leadership of Jason Hanna and Joe Rigs came together earlier this month to present the 2013 edition of The Teddy Bear Party. The event took place in an empty retail space at the Davis Building in Downtown Dallas and was designed to provide support to three worthy organizations. Dallas Light and Sound was honored to provide production and event design services, lighting, lounge furniture, video projection, flatscreens, linens and holiday themed décor for this exclusive, invitation only gathering.

The space at the Davis Building before
DLS works our magic...

Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Stand Up 2 Cancer, and the Family Equality Council were the beneficiaries of the event. In addition to collecting cash donations at the door and in advance of the event, a requirement for entry to The Teddy Bear Party serves as the inspiration for the name of the event. Patrons are required to bring a teddy bear to the party to assure admission, and bring bears they did. On the Sunday morning following the event, Teddy Bear event hosts traveled to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas and presented more than 500 teddy bears to the hospital for distribution to patients.

Dallas Light and Sound collaborated with legendary designer
Mark Clay to create a winter wonderland on the lower level
of the Davis Building for the Teddy Bear Party.
In addition to collecting more than 500 Teddy Bears, total funds raised between ticket sales and additional donations topped $15,000! These donations will be split 50/50 between Family Equality Council and Stand Up 2 Cancer. The Host Committee raised 100% of the funds necessary and resources to produce the event from private individuals and area businesses, which assured that 100% of ticket sales and other cash donations would go directly to the beneficiaries. Event underwriters included Gary McDonald, Steve Rahhal, Mike Richardson, Julio Gonzalez, Bryan Carr, Mark Le, Mark Clay, Joe Riggs, Ben E Keith Distributing, and The Bascom Goup.

Stand Up 2 Cancer, which is groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.  The host committee will make their donation in honor of those currently battling cancer and in memory of all of our loved ones that have lost their battle.
Family Equality Council is the second cash beneficiary, and is an organization that connects, supports, and represents the estimated three million parents who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender in the United States and their six million children. FEC works to change attitudes and policies to ensure that all families are respected, loved, and celebrated—including families with parents who are LGBT.

The talented DJ Brandon Moses burned the house down an incredible selection of dance hits, with Bar X providing service staff for the event. Ben E Keith contributed beer & wine for the evening.
In addition to designing and supplying a sexy and sleek look in holiday red for the upstairs space, Dallas Light and Sound collaborated with Dallas design legend Mark Clay to create a winter wonderland downstairs! The Bascom Group supplied the space in the historic Davis Building for the event.

Congratulations to The Teddy Bear Party Host Committee for making a difference in our community!
