Little Black Dress 2016 at Park Place Volvo Benefits Legal Hospice of Texas - 2017 Edition Approaching

Francisco Flores created the winning look at
Little Black Dress 2016 at Park Place Volvo
Legal Hospice of Texas produces two major fashion events each year. One of these is Little Black Dress which is held early in the year, often in January. Showcased designers at Little Black Dress choose their most fashionable look and compete for the crowd chosen honor of being recognized as having designed the best look of the night. Most if not all of the LBD designers go on to show capsule collections at Legal Hospice’s second major fashion production - Fashion CITED – a runway extravaganza held later in the year.

With the 2017 edition of Little Black Dress less than a month away, Dallas Light and Sound is looking back at the 2016 Legal Hospice fashion soiree held at Park Place Volvo. Fashion calendars across North Texas were marked weeks in advance for Little Black Dress 2016 held at Park Place Volvo on January 15th,. Attendees helped Legal Hospice "Spy" the best Little Black Dress in North Texas when designers for the Legal Hospice of Texas 10th annual Fashion CITED show brought their best work to show one look for one night as a preview to the main event. More than 300 patrons turned out to cast their votes to select a dress by Franciso Flores as the top design. Flores is one of the founders of Fashion CITED and continues to serve as the production manager and lead organizer.

Unlike many fashion shows, guests at Little Black Dress are able to get up close and personal with each designer creation to appreciate the skills of the participating designers and to meet the designers who attend the event.

Joining co-producers Flores and Cathy Garcia, local fashionistas Leah Frazier and Vanessa Lua attended Little Black Dress 2016 and were recognized as the Co-Chair s of Fashion CITED. DJ Tony Dean manned the decks to spin mysterious spy tunes and helped emcee the event. More than 300 patrons packed Park Place Volvo to sip cocktails, taste lite bites, socialize, and cast their votes. Dallas light and Sound provided flatscreens for sponsor recognition and event branding, a sound system for public address and music playback, cocktail bars for beverage service, a red carpet walkup, and pipe and drape to define the space. DLS also supplied elevated runways and modelling stations so that guests could see the fashions showcased by the designers.

The 2017 edition of Little Black Dress is slated for Friday, January 12th at the beautiful showroom of Goodson Acura. A $25 donation at the door equips attendees with four votes to cast for their favorite Little Black Dress. Guests will enjoy one of the most engaging and fun fashion presentations in North Texas plus complimentary food, drinks, music and fun! We'll hope to see you there! DJ Tony Dean will be back this year to spin some “Rhythm and Hues” for the evening. A unique X shaped runway from Dallas Light and Sound will anchor the showroom, providing 360 degree surround viewing of all designer entrees in the contest. The event serves as a preview of Fashion CITED 2017, scheduled later in 2017 at Frontiers of Flight Museum, and benefits Legal Hospice of Texas.

AIN Presents "The Sands - A Retro Nightclub Experience" at 2616 Commerce Events Center

The Hunter Sullivan combo entertains patrons at AIN Presentes "The Sands - A Retro Nightclub Experience"
A night of nostalgia and celebration awaited patrons who attended The Sands – A Retro Nightclub Experience on Saturday, November 5th. Benefiting Aids Interfaith Network, the evening also served the purpose of raising funds for an organization that has been making a difference in the lives of thousands of people and brought to a close their 30th anniversary year leaving supporters, management and staff in high spirits.

Event organizers couldn’t have chosen a better venue with their selection of 2616 Commerce Events Center as the host site. Raw brick walls, high backed banquettes and a Deep Ellum address helped reinforce a 1960s vibe that was made all the more special by a fashion show presented by Vintage Martini. Vocalist Hunter Sullivan crooned mad men tunes for a late night 9 pm - Midnight event that also featured serious libations with an open bar.

The crowd came dressed to kill with many arriving in Mad Men inspired fashions and with happy bouffants soaring to the skies, fabulous eyewear and hats, gloves and shoes that would make Jackie Onassis proud. Impeccably dressed gentlemen and elegantly clad ladies helped make the swinging vibe of the event truly swing, with specialty cocktails from event sponsor Amadora Tequila and an open bar fueling the evening. Attendees received swag bags, noshed on an impressive spread of delicious appetizers from Timm Chamberlain and enjoyed a night of dancing and sparkling conversation. The always fabulous Steve Kemble, America’s sassiest lifestyle guru, hosted the Vintage Martini fashion show with a running commentary that had the audience in stitches. DJ Tony Dean turned the energy up several notches for the last hour of the party to close out the night with contemporary dancing that left the crown wanting more long after last call.

The event also served as an announcement party and logo reveal for the organization’s signature spring gala – Bloomin Ball. With a new venue this year at the Renaissance Hotel, Dallas Light and Sound is looking forward to providing production services as AIN starts a second decade of spring fundraising events. Set for June 3rd, 2017, additional information will be forthcoming soon.
Dallas Light and Sound provided a concert quality audio system for the Hunter Sullivan Combo with Hunter delivering his era appropriate vocals on an Electrovoice “Raven” Microphone, one of several specialty mics in our inventory. Gobos on opposing walls and rotating on the dancefloor were augmented with flatscreen televisions to recognize sponsors, supply event branding, and convey beneficiary messaging. Dancefloor lighting, stage set lighting for the band backdrop, and fashion show lighting rounded out our list of production services for the night.

Period appropriate fashions from Vintage Martini stole the show with hats and gloves and shoes that
would have made Jackie Onassis proud.

Esé Azénabor Stuns with Phantom of the Runway 2014 Collection Debut at Fashion Industry Gallery

Esé Azénabor reviewing pieces of her
20013 collection as inspiration for
Phantom of the Runway
Esé Azénabor debuted her 2014 collection, which included 45 looks, at the Phantom of the Runway Fashion show held Friday, June 13th at the Fashion Industry Gallery. Phantom of the Runway delighted a packed house of some of the most beautiful people in Dallas. With PR from VOLK PR and show coordination and management by Harriet Kelly Gibbee, we say thank you for choosing Dallas Light and Sound as the production resource for this event for audio, video, lighting and decor!

Executive Show Director
Harriet Kelly Gibbee
Under the direction of Gibbee, a well timed show presented the beaded masterworks of Azenabor to an eclectic selection of popular and classically inspired tunes. The paparazzi had plenty to photograph before, during and after the show, with Azenabor;s collection sparkling as it walked the runway with model supplied by The Campbell Agency and The Dragonfly Agency. Dear CLark provided styling services, with Juan Lerma managing backstage.

The inspiration for the Phantom themed runway fashion show originated when her father brought six-year-old Azénabor to see Phantom of the Opera in London, England. The draping of the backdrop, set design, rich materials, and elaborate costumes visually stimulated and mesmerized her. The opportunity to platform this noteworthy designer’s pieces with the theme that initiated her pursuit of fashion marks a milestone in her career.

Nigeria-born Esé Azénabor grew up with grandmother and mother beading with African prints. That cultural tradition has transcended into her designs by conceptualizing her fascination for heavy beading, crocheted lace, and embroidery. Inspired by a combination of vintage, African, Egyptian, and contemporary European influences, she merged cultures to create her luxurious, signature collection bearing her full name, talent and personality.

DJ Nikki Nicole spins some
stellar tunes over a DLS sound system
and on a mirrored DLS DJ Booth
VIP Guests for Phantom of the Runway arrived early to enjoy delicious bites served by Food Glorious food and an open vodka and wine bar. Casual modeling of fashionable pieces from prior Azenabor collections greeted guests at the top of the stairs at FIG in a thematic tableau designed and installed by Dallas Light and Sound. The beats of DJ Nikki Nicole welcomed guests before the show and served as part of the fuel for a fun-filled post show party.

During the show, the paparazzi and the audience could not get enough of the gorgeous creations walking the runway, with a standing room only press and photography area strategically positioned at the end of the runway. Author, actress and television personality LeeAnne Locken served as mistress of ceremonies for the event, and provided a unique viewpoint on the talent of Esé Azénabor to the audience during her welcome speech.
